The Atwood mechanical thermostat that came with the camper was very
primitive. It had a thermometer style temperature indicator and it took way too
long to sense and then adjust the temperature in the camper. So I decided to
replace it with a Hunter digital thermostat model 42999B (Got this idea from rv.
net – incredible site for info/ideas). Replacement took less than 15 minutes
(most of it reading the owners manual). Very simple, just two wires to swap.
The heater is a forced air (LP gas heated) 12 volt controlled Atwood Hydro
Flame 7916-II. Now the furnace kicks on more often but stays on for less time.
This keeps the camper temperature more constant. Plus the digital display
show exactly what the temperature is.
